Hepatitis is one of the largest and fastest growing therapeutic areas. Current treatments (interferon) are exceptionally difficult to tolerate because of side-effects. Other antivirals simply stop the replication of viruses, encouraging mutation.

SciClone's Zadaxin is approved in nearly two-dozen countries for the treatment of Hepatitis A & B. If its successful approval around the world can be duplicated in the US, SciClone may well have a big hit on its hands.
