Medarex (MEDX) has
created a monoclonal antibody (MAb) targeting CTLA-4. This antibody,
MDX-010, essentially pushes the body to create autoimmune disease. This
helps cancer vaccines break the body’s existing tolerance for the cancer
cells and seems to unlock a more powerful immune response. |
 |
|
| Medarex is more famous for
core technology that creates fully human (not “humanized”) antibodies
using genetically engineered mice. This technology is outlicensed to
dozens of partners and is a considerable asset for the company. |
